The Women’s Foundation of California & The BIG We Culture Shift 101!!
In 2019, in a bold and much needed move towards leadership in cultural strategy philanthropy, The Women's Foundation of California, along with several philanthropic partners launched The Culture Change Fund. By focusing on culture change, this $10 million+ fund’s goal is to create broad public support for a new way of thinking that centers gender, racial, and economic justice at the heart of the solution to any systemic problems.
As the Fund grows and begins to make investments, The Women’s Foundation of California wants to ensure that its partners, team, and community understand the work of The Fund and the work of the practitioners The Fund seeks to support.
To this end, The Big We will facilitate “Culture Shift 101” a four-part series of learning exchanges for The Women's Foundation of California and its community to help with this task.
Culture Shift 101 CENTERS “core values” as the root of a culture based theory of change. Participants will engage in discussions about the power core values as a conduit to reimagining the world and a rubric that ensures that their cultural strategy work is consistent and effective.
Culture Shift 101 SHARES real life examples of how culture is leveraged to share ideas and inspire action. By hearing from practitioners that are working in community, participants will be able to see the theory come alive in practice.
Culture Shift 101 INVITES participants into an interactive exchange of ideas that will allow them to leave with an understanding of the theory of cultural strategy work as well as with practical approaches specific to their work.
Culture Shift 101 BUILDS a kit of practical tools that participants can share with their community and use in their work immediately.
Culture Shift 101 EMBODIES its work by centering Indigenous, Black, LatinX, and API voices (beginning with the women from these communities) and advocating for work that elevates the vision and leadership of those the most under resourced and underestimated among us.
